Cytoscape Java Web Start


Before you begin, you will need to have Java installed, simply install the appropriate copy of Java for your operating system from:
http://www.java.com/en/


Instructions from the indigene.org website
- Click the Cytoscape logo
- you should be prompted to open the application with "Java Wb Start," click "OK"
- if this is the first time launching Cytoscape from a web start, then Cytoscape and the necessary files will be downloaded onto your machine.  You will then be prompted to run the application, click "Run."  If you have already launced Cytoscape from web start, then the application will not download as you already have a copy on your computer.  The application should simply start.
- You should not have a working copy of Cytoscape with the requested data running on your machine


Known issues
- We have tested launching Cytoscape using Java Web Start on the following operating systems

   - Mac OSX 10.5.x --- appears to work fine
   - Windows Vista  --- appears to work fine
   - Windows XP     --- we have successful launches on some computers and failures on others.  Unfortunately, we don't have an explanation for the failures
